About Elise and Nick

How They Met

Elise and Nick met on a one way dead end street.

It was an early memorial day party in 2005 on a residential street with no outlet.  If you drove down the street, the only way out was to back out the way you came in. Beer was flowing, a dj was spinning and a mutual friend, Jay D invited his friend Nick to the festivities.  When Elise met Nick she was SURE she knew him from somewhere.  She went through the usual list, "are you in theater?", no.  Did you go to Camp White Oaks? no. How bout Stagedoor Manor? No. the list went on and there was no connection except Jay D. So we just kept talking.  Who knows about what, but we talked all day and into the night.  There may or may not have been some shenanigans involving a hot tub, but as far as I'm concerned that's hearsay. We did not exchange numbers and we parted thinking and hoping we might meet again, at least I did.
Two weeks later I decided to go to a bi-weekly party at Lucy's in Old City, again, Jay D. was the connector, as he was hosting the party and I had a suspicion that Nick would be there.  We were happy to see each other and again spent the night talking. As the night ended we finally exchanged numbers.  He promised to call....
I didn't hear from him for a day or two, so I unabashedly made the move and called him.  I left a message on his voicemail and I got a call back!!! Apparently, the night we had exchanged numbers Nick lost his phone on the train and spent all night riding the different trains back and forth between NJ and Philly looking for his phone and my number.  Thank goodness I made that phone call and he checked his messages remotely.  We finally got together and he came over and of course I had 5 dogs at my house that I was dog sitting.  He didn't bat an eye.  He just came right in and started talking to the pooches like they were my roommates.  I said, "You talk to them like their humans!"  He said "How else do you talk to dogs"?  Perfect.
With a few hiccups here and there, trials and tribulations, we are going strong 8 years later.  Everyday, we choose to be with each other, offering guidance and reassurance to one another whenever it's needed.  We are a team working together (most of the time) to achieve a common goal of happiness in life.

Elise

Elise is known for always having something to say.  Before Elise could read or write, she was recording songs on her Fisher Price tape recorder.  She continued her romp with music, throughout grade school and rose to the top of her chorus classes. Elise played leading roles in her high school’s musicals, which was fuel to her fire, leading her to attend Stagedoor Manor, a performing arts summer camp.  Following this suggestive path, she went on to obtain a BFA in musical theater at Syracuse University.  Elise found herself feeling lost and unsure of where the music was taking her.  After college, she worked various jobs, most of which did not involve music at all. Paying bills became the priority.  Elise finally found a job as a singing waitress. Singing and serving was not her dream but it worked temporarily.  Looking to gain control of her own destiny, Elise started a dog walking business, “For Paws Philly”. It was while walking dogs one day that she met Rooks Star a young producer/beat writer. He offered her the opportunity to write songs to his beats.  She began to write the songs she had been nurturing inside of her, her whole life.   Elise has been heard singing in the choir of Broad Street Ministry, thanks to Tony Moore, who produced Elise’s EP, Break Open. The project involves musicians like Kevin Hanson, Tony Catastrophe, and UARTs alumni like Greg Moore.  Elise has played venues around Philly such as The Ruba Club for the Fringe Fest, The Legendary Dobbs and of course, The Tin Angel.  Elise's current endeavor is The Dream It True Tour.  An unconventional music tour of the USA.  Nick and Elise will network their way with musicians, venues, producers and the like, across the country for two years travelling in a 33' motorhome with their dog, Honey and a dream to make Music their way of life.

Nick

Nick is a carpenter by trade, but only uses his super powers for friends and family.  He is an avid lover of all things graham cracker, therefore he has earned the "nick name" (hehehe) Old Dirty Graham Cracker (ODGC).  He has notoriously been causing trouble and drawing attention to himself since a young age, although he'll swear he "doesn't remember".  This is Nick's second RV excursion across America.  He claims that living in an RV is the only way to live because no matter where you are, you always have everything you need.  He is of course, a big Eagles fan, but an even bigger Flyers fan.  With a natural ability to entertain those he's with, we are just waiting for the day Nick gets handed a microphone in a crowded room.
